I stopped using Meta's products and services in 2021, and I haven't gone back. The moderation is heavy-handed and far too easy to weaponize. Bots and members of private stalker groups can pile on with mass reports and get an ordinary user silenced, restricted, or removed — often without a single human ever reviewing the case.

When reporting is that easy to abuse, it stops being a safety tool and becomes a tool for harassment. I'm not interested in participating in that.

✕ X (formerly Twitter)

Not used — for obvious reasons.

✕ Bluesky

I genuinely hoped Bluesky would be different. It isn't. Its moderation system behaves much the same way I described above, and I've now been suspended twice this year.

• The first suspension came over a single photo that read:

• The second suspension came with no explanation at all. I still don't know which post triggered it — or whether someone simply reported me for their own reasons.
• Neither suspension came with an email. No notice, no reason, no appeal link. You only find out when you open the app: you're logged out, you re-enter your username, password, and 2FA — and only then are you told the account is suspended and cannot be found.
• Even when I'm not suspended, the app signs me out every few days — sometimes every week. It's exhausting, and it makes the platform feel unstable by design.

So even if my account is ever restored, I'm still done with Bluesky.
